FINDLAY 68, PARKSIDE 62
A cold second half by the Parkside men's basketball team proved to be the difference on Saturday afternoon, as the Rangers fell to the visiting Findlay Oilers 68-62 to end the nonconference slate.
Â
Parkside was outscored 39-24 in the second half and went 3-of-18 from downtown after leading by nine at halftime.Â
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers first half was solid, as the team shot 51.5-percent from the floor and took a 38-29 lead into the break. Parkside used an 11-3 run to end the first half.
Â
The second half was much different however, as the Oilers took their first lead in the second half with 8:58 to play. They held on to the lead for the final 6:42 of the ball game, but the Rangers had some chances. Down five with 1:17 to play, redshirt-senior
Tray Croft hit a triple to make it a 64-62 game and then forced a turnover, but Parkside turned the ball right back over to the Oilers on the next possession. Findlay then iced it away at the free-throw line.
Â
STATWORTHY
Croft led the Rangers with 16 points and five assists, while redshirt-freshman
Jamir Simpson had 15 points and five rebounds. Redshirt-sophomore
Vinson Sigmon Jr. finished with 13 points and went 3-for-6 from deep.
Ramar Evans and
Bryce Prochaska each had seven points off the bench.
Â
As a team, Parkside shot 42.6% from the floor and went 7-of-32 from 3-point range. The Rangers went -5 in the rebounding battle and +3 in the turnover battle.
