The Parkside volleyball team opened the weekend with a tough 5-set victory on the road over Purdue Northwest Saturday afternoon.Â
Set 1: The Rangers blew out the Pride in the first set, jumping out to a 12-2 advantage and not looking back. Parkside hit .583 in the first set, with 15 kills and just one error.
Set 2: The Pride came back to grab the second set 25-15, pulling away in the end by scoring 12 of the final 16 points.Â
Set 3: PNW took a 2-1 advantage in the match in the third set, jumping out to a 12-6 advantage early on. Parkside clawed back in at 21-16, but the Pride scored the final four points to end it.Â
Set 4: The Rangers bounced back in the fourth set, despite the Pride coming back to tie the set at 21-21. Sophomore Jessica Pappas had a pair of kills and the Pride had a couple of attack errors to help the Rangers win and tie the match at 2-2.Â
Set 5: The Rangers got up early 7-3, but the Pride battled back to make it a match. With the Rangers leading 11-9, they ripped off a 4-0 run to end the match that included two aces by sophomore Maddy Dokken.Â
Statworthy
Senior Rachel Hedman and Pappas tied for the game-high with 14 kills while junior Lexi Packard had 11. Freshman Lindsay Krznarich had a game-high 6.0 blocks while junior Alysha Brickl had a team-high 27 assists and Dokken led with 22 digs. j
What's Next
Parkside welcomes in Saginaw Valley State on Sunday at 2 p.m. for a makeup match at De Simone Gymnasium.Â
