Volleyball Ends Crossover Tournament with Win over Maryville, Falls to Drury in Opener

MATCH 1 RECAP
In a match that looked like Parkside had it all the way, Drury came back to win three straight sets in beat the Rangers 3-2. Parkside took set one 25-19, then set two 25-23, but the tides turned, as Drury won a hard-fought third set 26-24, then cruised to a 25-14 win in the fourth set to tie it up 2-2.
 
In the fifth set, the Rangers never led, but had it at 13-11 late in the set. A service error followed by a Parkside attack error gave the Panthers the 3-2 win.
 
Junior Reese Rossnagel led the way with 14 kills, while sophomore Jessica Pappas add 13 and junior Lexi Packard had 12. Junior Jazmine Neal and freshman Lindsay Krznarich each had 6.0 blocks while junior Alysha Brickl had a career-high 51 assists. Sophomore Maddy Dokken had a team-high 17 digs.
 
MATCH 2 RECAP
Parkside took total control of this match early on, winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20 to up 2-0. After a dismal third set, the Rangers finished off the Saints 25-21 to win in four sets and end the 2021 Midwest Region Crossover Tournament on a high note.
 
Parkside battled back from trailing in the first set 19-16 and 15-14 in the second set to win both. The fourth set was tied at 18-18, but the Rangers finished out the set winning five of the final seven points and Neal gave Parkside the win with her final kill of the day to seal it.
 
Neal had a team-high 14 kills while Pappas had 13 and Rossnagel had nine. Brickl added 32 assists and 19 digs, both of which led the team.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
After a long stretch away from home, the Rangers finally return home for a weekend. They'll battle Michigan Tech on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Northern Michigan on Saturday at 2 p.m.
