Volleyball Opens 2021 Midwest Crossover with 3-2 Loss to Tiffin

Tiffin 3, Parkside 2 | 25-22, 14-25, 26-24, 24-26, 15-8
After back-to-back 26-24 sets, the Parkside volleyball team ran out of gas and fell to Tiffin 3-2 to open the 2021 Midwest Region Crossover Tournament in Hammond, Ind., at the Hammond Sportsplex.

SET 1: Parkside had control of the first set, holding on to a 19-11 lead midway through, but the Dragons used runs of 3-0, 3-0 and 6-0 down the stretch to come back and take set one.

SET 2: The Rangers pulled away in set two thanks to a 9-1 run that put them up 21-12. A kill by senior Jazmine Neal ended the set and tied the match 1-1.

SET 3: The Dragons led the Rangers 23-17 and had them against the ropes, but a 6-0 run that included two kills by sophomore Jessica Pappas tied it up at 23-23. Unfortunately for Parkside, Tiffin scored three of the final four points and went up 2-1 in the match.

SET 4: The Rangers had control of this set as well, but this time they were able to come away with the win. Parkside saw Tiffin tie up at 24-24 late after being up handily earlier, and Neal used a kill followed by an attack error tied the match 2-2.

SET 5: The teams went back-and-forth early on, but Tiffin pulled away with a 9-2 run in the middle of the set.
