MICHIGAN TECH 79, PARKSIDE 55
The Parkside men's basketball team couldn't cool down Michigan Tech Saturday afternoon, as the Huskies shot 56.1-percent from the floor and went 13-of-22 from beyond the arc. Parkside will stay on the road next weekend before returning home on Feb. 20 and 22.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams went back-and-forth in the opening minutes, until Michigan Tech used an 11-1 run to jump out to a double-digit lead. That didn't last long, as the Rangers battled back to bring it to a one possession game after a
Linwood Lee triple with 7:04 to play, however the Huskies ended the half outscoring Parkside 21-4 over the final 7:00 and took a 45-29 lead into the break.
Â
In the second half, MTU slowly kept building onto its lead, pushing it to as many as 29 points and thwarting any chance of a Parkside comeback.
Â
WHO LED THE WAY
Redshirt-sophomore
Joey St. Pierre led Parkside with 13 points and had three blocks. Freshman
Solomon Oraegbu and
Vinson Sigmon Jr. each had nine points while Sigmon Jr. led the team with seven rebounds. MTU led the rebounding battle 23-19 and went +6 in the turnover battle. The Huskies also had 21 points off turnovers, while the Rangers had nine.
