Defense Steps up in Home Win over Michigan Tech

PARKSIDE 69, MICHIGAN TECH 56
Coming off their first home loss in over a calendar year, the Rangers knew they had to play well against Michigan Tech to get back on a winning track at home, and they did. Redshirt-sophomore Brandon Trimble led Parkside with 21 points, but perhaps the biggest effort the Rangers got was on the other side of the ball. Coming into the game, Michigan Tech's Kyle Monroe was the GLIAC's leading scorer, pouring in 21.2 per game. However, a stout team defense held the star to eight points on 3-of-15 shooting.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers didn't get off to the start they wanted, as they didn't score their first basket until the 16:01 mark. At that point Parkside was down 7-3, but they slowly started to claw their way back throughout the half. The team's hard work culminated in a 13-6 run to close the half in large part to Trimble, who scored eight of the 13. The Rangers took a 30-28 lead into the half.

The Green & White started the second half the same way they ended the first, with a run. This time the team outscored the Huskies 11-5 in a five-minute span to bring the score to 41-33. The run proved to be crucial as the Rangers never let their lead get below six, and eventually extended it to 13 by the time the final buzzer sounded.

A LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE
Trimble led the team with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting to go with six rebounds. Junior Ramar Evans was the only other Parkside player to register double-digits with 14 points. Redshirt-senior Joe Borcia also hit his first and only 3-point attempt of his career.

Parkside outshot Michigan Tech on the night, going 27-for-57 (47.4%), while the Huskies shot 23-for-66 (34.8%). They also saw big advantages in points in the paint, 40-28 and bench points, 32-5.
