WHAT TO KNOW: GLIAC Quarterfinals

KENOSHA, Wis. – Parkside men's basketball is set to host Lake Superior State on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. inside DeSimone Gymnasium and the women's team will head to Ashland for a 4:30 p.m. tip off. Here's a look at everything you need to know heading into Tuesday.

MEN'S GAME – GAME NOTES
  • The Rangers won both matchups against the Lakers this season, but they did not come easy.
    • Brandon Trimble hit a buzzer-beater on the road on Jan. 17 to help Parkside to an 83-81 win in the first matchup
    • Chavares Flanigan converted a game-winning layup with under :03-seconds remaining in the second matchup on Feb. 21, that ended in a 60-58 Rangers' home win.
  • Parkside ended the regular season at 15-11 overall, 13-7 in the GLIAC and 11-1 at home
    • They've won their last 10 home games
  • LSSU enters at 15-11 overall and 11-9 in the GLIAC
  • The Rangers earned the No. 3 seed after winning the GLIAC North, while the Lakers enter Tuesday as the No. 6 seed.
  • In the two games against the Lakers this season, Chip Flanigan is averaging 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game
  • LSSU crushed Ferris State at their place last Thursday to close out the regular season, while Parkside defeated Purdue Northwest on the road on a game-winning Trimble layup.
  • The Lakers won two GLIAC Tournament games last season, while Parkside was ineligible for postseason play
 
WOMEN'S GAME – GAME NOTES
  • Parkside earned the No. 7 seed in its first season in the GLIAC, while Ashland was the No. 2
  • The Rangers finished the regular season 12-14 overall and 10-10 in the GLIAC
  • Ashland, who is ranked No. 7 nationally, ended 26-2 overall and 18-2 in the GLIAC
    • Their only two losses came against Grand Valley State, the No. 1 seed
  • Ashland won both matchups this season, first winning in DeSimone 108-69 on Jan. 10 and then defeating the Rangers 70-60 on Feb. 16
  • In both games this season, Shelby Cheston is averaging 14.0 points while Carolina Rahkonen is averaging 13.0 points per game
