Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Suffers Road Loss in Final Seconds at WSU

WAYNE STATE 71, PARKSIDE 70
A late foul call doomed Parkside men's basketball, who was tied with the host Wayne State after a Chavares Flanigan layup with :10 seconds to play in the game. The Warriors' Latin Davis drove down and got a whistle, finishing 1-for-2 at the free-throw line and the Rangers had to try a full-court heave. The lead changed 15 times and was tied nine times, making a clear representation of how close this game was throughout.

The teams split the season series, as each team won their home game. The Rangers now sit in fourth place in the GLIAC, tied with Ferris State in the standings but the Bulldogs hold the tiebreaker.

HEAR FROM COACH REIGEL
"We knew this would be a difficult game based on our first matchup with them," head coach Luke Reigel said. "You can't keep going on the road and losing the turnover battle as bas as we are and expect to win; it's near impossible."

DOWN THE STRETCH
In the final 7:00 of the game, neither team led by more than three points, as both teams kept trading the lead in the final minutes. Brandon Hau connected on a 3-pointer that tied the game at 68-68 with 1:06 to play, but a pair of Warrior free throws put Wayne State up 70-68 with :17-seconds left. Flanigan drove left and finished a layup to tie it up at 70-70, and the Warriors got a foul call on the other end that sent Davis to the free-throw line.

Flanigan led the Rangers with his sixth 20-point game of the season, going for 20 while finishing with five rebounds and four assists. Joey St. Pierre finished with 16 points and seven rebounds while Bonk had nine points off three 3-pointers. Hau had seven points and nine rebounds.
