MEQUON, Wis. -- The Parkside wrestling team competed in its first tournament of the season on Saturday afternoon at the CUW Open, and the Rangers had a couple of second place finishers in Joe Arroyo (125) and
Airk Furseth (133).

At 125 pounds, Arroyo opened his day 4-0 with two major decisions and a technical fall before losing to the No. 1 ranked wrestler in NCAA Division III, Mike Tortorice, in the championship match. At 133, Furseth also went 4-0 with two major decisions and a technical fall before losing in the championship to Wartburg's Brennen Doebel.

The Rangers had a couple of third place finishers as well in
Nathan Smith (149) and
Shane Gantz (157). Smith went 4-1 and earned a 5-3 decision over Devin Tortorice of UW-Whitewater in the Third Place Match while Gantz beat Munkhtulga Zuunbayan of Harper College in a 6-5 decision.
Nathan Hensley and Lucas Schevikhoven each went on to finish in fifth place while
Torry Early and
Jake Polka took sixth.

Parkside will take next weekend off before hosting the 48
th Annual Jim Koch Open in Petretti Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 9 a.m.
