PARKSIDE 3, PURDUE NORTHWEST 0
Parkside volleyball punched its ticket to the GLIAC Tournament with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-23) win on the road at Purdue Northwest Saturday afternoon. The Rangers, who have won three straight to close out the regular season, claimed the No. 8 seed and will hit the road to face top-seeded Ferris State on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. CT in the GLIAC Quarterfinals.
HEAR FROM COACH BAREA
"I can't put into words how proud we are of this team and their determination and focus while we finished the regular season the way we did," second year head coach Leigh Barea said. "They continued to work and buy in even through the tough times of the season. We are playing our best volleyball as a team right now and I'm so glad it's not done yet!"
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the middle of the first set, the Rangers used a 7-1 run to grab a 15-12 lead, then finished off the win by taking six of the final nine points en route to the 25-21 first set win. In the second set, a 6-0 run helped the Rangers to a 14-7 lead midway through and Parkside cruised to the 25-14 set two win and 2-0 lead in the match. The Rangers were able to close it out in the third, stopping a late PNW rally to win the final three points and take it 25-23.
