11/20/2019 8:20:00 PM

FERRIS STATE 3, PARKSIDE 0
The Parkside volleyball team was hot entering the GLIAC Tournament Wednesday night, but the top-seeded Bulldogs ended the Rangers streak with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20) win in the GLIAC Quarterfinals. Parkside had won three straight road matches entering Wednesday's match at Ferris State, who came in ranked No. 17 in the country.

HEAR FROM COACH BAREA
"It's never easy when season actually comes to an end but I am really proud of the growth we made this season," second year head coach Leigh Barea said. "Finishing the regular season the way we did even though our backs were up against the wall really showed the character of this team. When it comes to Carlee and Ann, I can't put into words how thankful and proud I am of them. They left their marks on this program and set more high standards as this program continues to grow."

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers had a good start in the first set, jumping out to a 7-5 lead on the Bulldogs, but FSU ripped off a 7-0 run and didn't look back en route to the 25-17 win in the first set. In the second, FSU started out hot this time, jumping out to a 6-1 lead and the Rangers couldn't get it back within striking distance, leading to an FSU 2-0 lead in the match. The Bulldogs closed it out in the end, but it wasn't easy, as Parkside had it all knotted up at 18-18 after a Lexi Packard kill. FSU scored seven of the final nine points to end the third set.

STATWORTHY
The duo of freshmen Reese Rossnagel and Packard led the Rangers with eight kills each, while sophomore Jazmine Neal and junior Rachel Hedman each had six. Freshman Alysha Brickl had a team-high 14 assists while senior Ann Leo, the programs leader in career digs, finished with 11 digs.

END OF THE 2019 SEASON
With Wednesday's loss, the Rangers officially ended the 2019 season at 11-19 overall and 6-10 in the GLIAC. The team will bid farewell to seniors Ann Leo and Carlee Behnke.
