Rangers Cruise to 78-56 Victory; Move Home Win Streak to 13 Games

The Parkside men's basketball team was red-hot Saturday afternoon, as the team cruised to a 78-56 win over Minnesota Crookston to claim the Parkside Invitational presented by HARIBO Championship. The Rangers extended their home win streak to 13 games at De Simone Gymnasium, tying them for the sixth longest active home win streak in NCAA Division II.

GAME RECAP
The opposite of the Rangers' game against Hillsdale on Friday, Parkside started out hot shooting from the floor, hitting its first four 3-pointers in the first half and opening up to a 17-7 lead with 13:57 to play. Parkside led by as many as 16 in the first half after a Joey St. Pierre layup with 5:00 to play. The teams went into the break with Parkside leading 40-29.
 
The Rangers put their foot on the gas in the second half, opening up on an 8-0 run after a pair of triples from Brandon Trimble and Tray Croft, as well as a layup from Brandon Hau. Parkside kept pouring it on, taking its lead to as many as 33 points and leading by 20 or more for the final 17:00 of the game.
 
It was the largest home win for the Rangers since they beat Clarke 97-59 on Nov. 15, 2018.
 
A LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE
Croft was a few numbers away from a triple-double, going for eight points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Trimble led the team in scoring with 16 while Hau had 15 points and seven rebounds, St. Pierre had 12 points and three blocks and Ramar Evans had 11 points and nine rebounds.
 
The Rangers finished shooting 50.8% from the floor while going 9-of-20 from 3-point land. Parkside was +14 in rebounding and +4 in the turnover battle. The Rangers also passed the ball very well, finishing with 25 assists, their highest total since Dec. 29, 2018.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will hit the road for a midweek nonconference matchup at Minnesota Duluth on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. They return home for a game against East-West on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m.
