Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Stumbles at Minnesota Duluth

MINNESOTA DULUTH 89, PARKSIDE 69
Parkside men's basketball couldn't slow down Minnesota Duluth Wednesday night, as the Bulldogs took down the Rangers after getting a huge boost in 3-point shooting (16-of-34). The Rangers will look to get back on track with a nonconference game against East-West on Saturday at De Simone Gymnasium.

HEAR FROM COACH REIGEL
"Duluth is a very good team and to beat a team like that, you have to have multiple players play well and play a clean game.  We had neither," head coach Luke Reigel said. "We have to find players who play well when things are hard.  Not just when things are going well. These are learning experiences for our young players and hopefully we get better from them."

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams traded buckets for the first 10-minutes of the game, until the Bulldogs used a 12-3 run to jump out to a 30-20 lead with 8:08 to play in the first half. The Rangers cut into the lead, getting it down to four points after a 10-0 run that featured a pair of triples. UMD took a 43-37 lead into the second half.

Parkside hung tough early in the second half, but a UMD 15-0 run that lasted just 4-minutes helped the home team to a big advantage. After the run, Parkside couldn't get it down to single digits the rest of the way.

STATWORTHY
Fresh off his GLIAC Player of the Week Award, redshirt-sophomore Brandon Hau had a good game for the Rangers, going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and finishing with 16 points and five rebounds. Junior Tray Croft led the Rangers in scoring with 19 and added a team-high four assists. Ramar Evans chipped in 10 points while Joey St. Pierre had five points and Brandon Trimble was held to four points.

UMD shot 50% from the floor and went 16-of-34 from downtown, while Parkside shot 45.8% and finished 8-of-13 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs went +4 in rebounding and won the turnover battle 13-5.
