BROOKE JONES-STORY COMMEMORATIVE MATCH
Friday's match served as the Brooke Jones-Story Commemorative Match, where the volleyball program honored Brooke and all fallen officers. Brooke grew up in rural Stockton, Ill., and attended Warren High School before attending UW-Parkside for her undergraduate degree in criminal justice. She graduated in 2007 when she joined the Illinois State Police in District 16 in Pecatonica.
Â
During a traffic stop, Brooke had pulled over a truck onto the shoulder of U.S. Highway 20 when a semi-truck driver, who authorities believe had fallen asleep, hit Brooke, her squad and the stopped truck. Warren High School retired Brooke's jersey at the end of September.
