Davenport 3, Parkside 0
Davenport spoiled the opening night of Pink Weekend for the Parkside volleyball team, as the Panthers took down the Rangers in straight sets 25-15, 25-18, 25-13. The Rangers will look to bounce back as the team faces Grand Valley State on Saturday at 2 p.m. Senior Ann Leo was honored pregame for breaking the all-time digs record at Parkside.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Parkside, who was without junior Rachel Hedman due to injury, trailed 11-9 early on in the first set, but Davenport went on a 10-1 run to take a commanding lead. In both the second and third sets, the Rangers got behind early on and couldn't recover, leading to the Panther sweep in DeSimone.
 
STATWORTHY
Freshman Reese Rossnagel led the Rangers with eight kills while sophomore Jazmine Neal had five and junior Kendall Holmes/freshman Lexi Packard each had three. Freshman Alysha Brickl had a team-high 10 assists while Leo had 12 digs.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will close out the final volleyball match of Pink Weekend against Grand Valley State at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Rangers don't return home until Oct. 25/26.
