Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls to Reigning NCAA II Champion Ferris State

FERRIS STATE 98, PARKSIDE 81
Parkside came into Saturday leading the GLIAC North Division, but the reigning NCAA Division II National Champion was hot, as Ferris State shot 13-of-26 from beyond the arc to help finish off the Rangers. The two teams will meet again in the Rangers' final regular season home game of the year on Feb. 23 at DeSimone Gymnasium. Ferris State had now won nine of its last 11 games.

HEAR FROM COACH REIGEL
"To win two games on this road trip we were going to have to play two great games and we were unable to do that," head coach Luke Reigel said. "I give all the credit to Ferris State.  I thought they were better in every aspect of the game including toughness. We will need to regroup and get back to work in practice so we can have some success on our upcoming home stand."

FIRST HALF
Ferris State opened up on a 5-0 run and held the lead the entire first half. 8:00-minutes into the game, Parkside was within one, but the Bulldogs pushed their lead back to eight points at 27-19 with 6:37 to play in the half. Ferris State kept adding on to the lead throughout the half, pushing it 16 points with about a minute to go, but a triple by Adam Bonk and a Ramar Evans layup made it a 46-35 game at halftime.

SECOND HALF
Parkside stayed tough through the first 5:00-minutes into the second half, cutting the deficit down to eight points at the 15:36 mark, but an 8-0 run later the half helped the home Bulldogs keep adding to the lead until the final buzzer.

STATWORTHY
Chavares Flanigan stayed hot, again leading the team in scoring with 15 points and added six rebounds and six assists. Four other Rangers finished in double-figures, as Joey St. Pierre scored 12, Brandon Trimble had 11 and Adam Bonk had 10. The Rangers shot 46.4-percent from the floor, but finished -7 in rebounding and -4 in the turnover battle.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will take Thursday off, but welcome in Purdue Northwest on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. following the women's game.
