PARKSIDE 83, LAKE SUPERIOR STATE 81
Thanks to a buzzer-beating mid-range floater from
Brandon Trimble, Parkside men's basketball grabbed sole possession of the GLIAC North lead with the big road win over Lake Superior State. The Lakers hit a game-tying 3-pointer with :06-seconds left and the Rangers advanced the ball across half court, called timeout, and set up the isolation play for Trimble.
Reigning GLIAC North Player of the Week
Chavares Flanigan was red-hot, going off for a career-high 32 points on a perfect 13-for-13 shooting. His 13 field goals made without a miss is now the best output in NCAA Division II this season, tied for seventh best all-time and the best since 2016.

HEAR FROM COACH REIGEL
"That was a phenomenal college basketball game," head coach
Luke Reigel said. "Lake State has a great team with talent all over the floor. We're very fortunate to come away with a win tonight."
"Chip Flanigan played one of the best games I've ever witnessed, he was fantastic on the offensive end all night long and was very active on defense. We got a lot of contributions from a lot of post players. I thought
Brandon Hau played the best game of his college basketball career while
Bret Barclay,
Joey St. Pierre and
Joe Borcia all gave us quality minutes."
Â
FIRST HALF
Flanigan opened the game with trey on the first possession and the Rangers held on to the lead until a 3-pointer by the Lakers with 7:25 to play in the half. LSSU went on a 13-0 run to jump out to a 10-point advantage with just under 5:00 to play. The Rangers cut into the lead a bit, but still trailed 45-40 at the half.
Â
DOWN THE STRETCH
LSSU led by as many as 9-points in the second half, but Parkside stayed tough, battling back and grabbing its first lead of the half at the 10:27 mark. The Ranger led by as many as 9-points as well, but LSSU battled back to erase the lead, hitting lay-ups with :33-seconds and :20-seconds left to make it an 80-78 Parkside lead. After
Ramar Evans went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line to make it 81-78, the Lakers hit the game-tying 3-pointer, followed by the clutch floater from Trimble on the right side.
Â
STATWORTHY
Flanigan finished with his third straight 20+ point game in the win and ended with four rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. It's the second 30-point game for a Parkside player this year, after
Joey St. Pierre had 33 against Trinity International. After Flanigan,
Brandon Hau had 17 points and five rebounds while
Adam Bonk had 10 points and a pair of triples.
Â

Parkside improved to 8-7 overall and 6-3 in GLIAC play with the road win. They've now won five of their last six games with the last five being decided by less than 10 points.
