MAKE-A-WISH DAY
Today was the Rangers Make-A-Wish Day where honorary team member Cooper Julien joined Parkside for the match. Cooper walked out with the team and did a ceremonial kick-off to start the game. Cooper was joined by his dad Dave, mom Cathy, brother Jackson and sister Emily.
HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"We didn't come out with the same energy that we have had in our previous games," said head coach Jason Zitzke. "I have to give credit to Davenport. Their record wasn't indicative of how they played today or the type of program that they have."
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Davenport Panthers were able to get on the scoreboard early, with a goal in the 13th minute. The Rangers held off the Panthers from scoring until the 31st minute when another ball was sent into the back of the net. Davenport ended the half with another goal to bring the score 3-0 at the whistle. The Panthers added one final goal in the second half off a corner kick in the 71st minute making the score 4-0. In the 87th minute, redshirt-junior Jack Krenzien added a header goal to put the Rangers on the scoreboard.
STATWORTHY
Both teams racked up a large amount of fouls throughout the game with Davenport earning 18 and Parkside with 11. Other penalties handed out were six yellow cards and one red card for Davenport along with a red card given to their team, while the Rangers were given four yellow cards and a red card. Rangers totaled 15 shots on the match.
