Ranger Men's Soccer Take Down #22 Northern Michigan

Mittelsteadt Scores in Final Seconds

Parkside 1, No. 22 Northern Michigan 0

HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"The goal at the end was just WOW," head coach Jason Zitzke said. "They were counting down the clock when Leki Prpa placed a beautiful ball over the top and Jack Mittelsteadt had a perfectly timed run behind the defense where he was able to hit it one-touch past the keeper with five seconds left in the match."

"It was a mad celebration after that," Zitzke added. "It was another battle; a back-and-forth game and very physical, but in a fair way. They are very well-coached and we both had very good chances, but we ended up putting ours away in the final moments of the game. I guess that's why they say 'play to the whistle!'"

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 89th minute, redshirt-junior Leki Prpa played the ball over the defense onto redshirt-freshman Jack Mittelsteadt, who timed his run perfectly to get behind Northern Michigan's defense. From there, Mittelsteadt was able to slot the ball past the keeper, his fourth goal of the season.

STATWORTHY
Prpa led the Rangers in shots, earning four on the game. Junior Burim Huseini and senior Reyes Perez followed with two shots each. Parkside had 16 shots throughout the match, with six on goal. Junior goalkeeper Juan Gonzalez made six saves in the game for Parkside.

A LOOK AT THE STANDINGS
This is the Rangers second win this season against a team that was ranked No. 22. When Parkside previously faced the Wildcats, the teams tied 0-0 in double overtime.
