HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior Maycee Kroening stole the ball and was able to score on an empty net within the first five minutes of the game, putting the Rangers up 1-0. Parkside held off Saginaw Valley's offense until the 20th minute, when the Cardinals finished an opportunity to tie the game. Two minutes later, senior Chloe Couves put the Rangers up one goal off a free kick. Before the half ended, the Cardinals were able to tie the game up 2-2.

55 seconds after the whistle blew to start second half, the Cardinals were able to capitalize and gain the lead. Saginaw Valley would keep the lead for the remainder of the game and add another goal in the 61st minute.

STATWORTHY

Junior Viktoria Silva led the Ranger offense with three shots, closely followed by sophomore Delaney Benich and Couves with two shots apiece. Junior goalkeeper Lara Ferrari tabbed eight saves on the match.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Rangers return home this upcoming weekend to play Davenport on Friday, Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m. Parkside will play again at Wood Road Field on Sunday, Sept. 30 against Grand Valley State, also at 2:30 p.m.
