Volleyball Drops Matches to Quincy, Upper Iowa at Indy Tournament

GAME 1, Quincy 3, Parkside 2

FINISH STRONG
The Rangers came out hot to open the weekend, taking a 2-0 lead over Quincy with tough battles in the first two sets (29-27, 25-23), but that wasn't enough as the Hawks battled back to win the final three sets 25-18, 29-27 and 15-7. Parkside earned a win in this same way over Purdue Northwest last weekend at the Parkside Hampton Inn Invitational.

WHAT STOOD OUT
Lexie Calloway led the way for Parkside with 19 kills while Katie Adams had 11 and a team-high 27 assists. Carlee Behnke had 6.0 blocks while Elizabeth Mavis had 5.0 and freshman Jessie Bradshaw had 4.0. Quincy had 61 kills to the Rangers' 52 and also went +4 in blocks.
 
GAME 2, Upper Iowa 3, Parkside 0

TOUGH COMPETITION
Upper Iowa came in to this game on a roll, after losing its first match of the season to now No. 4 ranked Ferris State, the Peacocks have won four straight including a victory of No. 12 Wheeling Jesuit. The Peacocks are currently receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
It was all Peacocks in this one, as UIU won 25-13, 25-19, 25-12 in straight sets to stay hot. Parkside had its chances, but the team finished with 22 attack errors and hit .089 while the Peacocks hit .363.
 
STATWORTHY
Katie Adams led the team in assists (15) and was second in kills with seven. Sophomore Rachel Hedman led the team with eight kills while Ann Leo had a team-high 11 digs.
 
DAY TWO
Day two of the Indianapolis Tournament will get started early Saturday morning, as the Rangers will face Harding at 9 a.m. followed by No. 12 Wheeling Jesuit at 3 p.m. to finish out the weekend.
