Men's Basketball Dominates Quincy on the Road

QUINCY, Ill. – Led by red-hot shooter Adam Bonk, the Parkside men's basketball team dominated Quincy on the road Thursday night 78-67 to open its four-game road trip.

Bonk, who entered Thursday's game ranked No. 3 in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage, finished with a career-high 24 points and went 5-for-9 from downtown. He was a huge part in the Rangers holding on to their lead in the second half, as he poured in three triples in less than 4:00 midway through the second half. Bonk led five Parkside players in double-figures and four that hit multiple 3-pointers. Ramar Evans finished with 17 while Bret Barclay/Espen Fjaerestad each had 11 and Goran Zagorac had 10.

The Green & White jumped out to a 40-30 lead at the half, using a 15-3 from 9:50 to 4:55 to own a 33-18 advantage at the time. Bonk scored six while Zagorac added four during the run. After the Hawks dropped their deficit to eight points with an early bucket in the second half, the Rangers pushed their lead back to double-digits and never let Quincy come close. Parkside kept the lead above 10 and gained an 18-point advantage with 4:32 to play in the game, the largest of the game. The Rangers dominated throughout, leading the game for over 97-percent of the way.

Parkside won the rebounding battle 34-30 and outshot the Hawks in every facet, field goal percentage (46-36), 3-point field goal percentage (52-41) and free-throw percentage (79-62). The Rangers also had 16 assists while the Hawks had 11.

The Rangers will stay on the road for three more games, heading to face Lewis on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 3 p.m.
