Skipping ahead to the final minutes, Parkside trailed 64-62 with 2:23 to play. A pair of USI free throws made it a four-point ball game with 2:09 to go and the team's traded missed field goals until Jameel Moore hit a quick 3-pointer with just :19 to play to make it 66-65 USI. The Screaming Eagles again went 2-for-2 from the line after a Parkside foul, and Moore followed that up with a layup to make it 68-67 with :09 to play. Parkside caught a break after their next foul, as USI missed the first bonus free throw, giving the Green & White a chance to win with :09 to play, but Moore's contested 3-pointer fell short as the buzzer sounded.

The Rangers held a short 2-point lead at the break, 30-28, after holding a lead of eight points with 12:20 in the first half, the largest lead by either team in the first half. In the second half, USI came out on fire, using a 16-6 run to open the half and take a 46-36 advantage with 13:23 to play. Parkside stormed back, using a trio of Adam Bonk 3-pointers that gave the Rangers a 51-50 lead. A crucial point in the game came at the 3:42 mark in the second half, as USI's Mateo Rivera hit a deep, contested, fade away 3-pointer as the shot clock expired to give the Eagles a 2-point lead at the time.

Moore led the way for Parkside, finishing with 21 points and five rebounds while Zagorac had a monster game, finishing his career at DeSimone with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Bonk also finished with 17 points after going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.

The Rangers will close out the 2017-18 season on Saturday, heading to Indianapolis with a tipoff time of 3 p.m.
