GRAND VALLEY STATE 88, PARKSIDE 77
ÂGrand Valley State spoiled the Parkside men's basketball's GLIAC Home Opener on Thursday night, as the Lakers came away with an 88-77 victory at DeSimone Gymnasium on Black Out the Den Night. Parkside hit a season-high 13 3-pointers, but GVSU won the points in the paint battle 40-16.

FIRST HALF
The teams battled back and forth in the first half, as the two were knotted at 11-11 with 14:13 to play and 21-21 with 10:05 to play. GVSU used a 13-0 run to jump out to a 34-24 lead with 5:13 to play, but the Rangers went red-hot from beyond the arc following the Laker run, as
Linwood Lee and
Bret Barclay hit a triple each and
Adam Bonk ended the half with back-to-back 3-pointers, including one with 3-seconds remaining which sent Parkside into the half with a 44-43 advantage.

SECOND HALF
GVSU took the lead right back with a 6-0 run to open the second half, and Parkside was never able to make it a one-possession game again, but came with 4-points on multiple occasions. After a pair of
Brandon Trimble free throws with 4:18 to play, Parkside trailed by four but two GVSU free throws and a 3-pointer put the Lakers back up nine with just over 3:00 to play.

A LOOK AT THE STATS
Bonk was hot from beyond the arc, as the senior went 6-for-11 to lead Parkside with 18 points. Three other Rangers finished in double-figures as
Linwood Lee scored a career-high 16 points,
Chavares Flanigan added 15 points, eight assists and three blocks and Trimble had 10 points. Hau had his third straight game with 10 rebounds. GVSU saw Jake Van Tubbergen score 25 and Hunter Hale finish with 20.

The Lakers went +10 in rebounding and +2 in turnovers while shooting 56.7-percent and holding the Rangers to 45.5-percent. The Rangers hit a season-high 13 3-pointers and finished with 22 assists to 11 turnovers.
