EVANSVILLE, Ind. – UW-Parkside women's basketball hung tough with the No. 10 team in the nation in the first half, but Southern Indiana pulled away in the second half and came out with a 74-57 win over the Rangers on Thursday night.

With the win, the Screaming Eagles improved to 18-2 overall and 8-0 in the GLVC while extending their win streak to five games. USI also moved to a perfect 12-0 at home this season.
Parkside took an early 10-0 deficit in the first 2:00 and USI cruised to a 26-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter is where the Rangers battled back, opening with an 8-2 run and getting to within two points at 30-28 with 5:40 remaining after an
Ali Bettencourt 3-pointer. The Rangers went to the break trailing 39-32. USI opened the second half on a 13-0 run over the first 5:00 until
Maycee Kroening ended that with a triple, but the damage was done and the Eagles went on to a double-digit win.
Bettencourt led the team with 18 points while connecting on five treys while adding five assists and four rebounds.
Hayley Maystead nearly tallied a double-double, going for nine points and nine rebounds while
Carolina Rahkonen scored nine points.
The Green & White will finish out the weekend on the road, battling Maryville on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m.
