ST. LOUIS, Mo. – In a game that came down to the wire, UW-Parkside women's basketball went on the road Saturday afternoon and came away with a tough-fought 60-55 win over the host Maryville.

It was a back-and-forth game throughout, but with the game tied at 50-50 with 1:35 to play, the Rangers got a couple of huge shots to pull away.
Hayley Maystead hit a triple to give the Rangers a 53-50 advantage and Parkside never gave it up. After a Saints' layup to cut it to 53-52 with :56 to play,
Ali Bettencourt hit a pair of clutch free throws and after a defensive stand,
Carolina Rahkonen went 2-for-2 at the line as well to put Parkside up 57-52. Bettencourt also went 2-for-2 at the line with :12 to play to make it a 5-point game.
In the first half, each team's largest lead was five points and Maryville went to the break with a 25-22 lead. From the end of the first half to the 4:00 mark in the third quarter, the Rangers used a 13-0 run to open up an 8-point lead and lead 38-31 at the end of the third quarter. The Saints climbed back in the game, but ultimately the Rangers came away with the win.
Rahkonen had a big game for Parkside, finishing with her second double-double of the season on a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds. Bettencourt had 18 points, 14 of which came in the second half, and six rebounds while Maystead had a solid game, going for eight points and nine rebounds.
The Rangers return home for two straight, hosting Illinois-Springfield on Thursday, Feb. 1 for Pinkout Night and playing UMSL on Saturday, Feb. 3 on Military Appreciation Day.
