Box Score Sophomore
Maycee Kroening (Freedom, Wis.) scored twice on Friday afternoon to lead the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over visiting Bellarmine at Wood Road Field.
Kroening opened the game's scoring in the 26th minute, rebounding her own shot in close and scoring from just off the line.
The visiting Knights scored the equalizer in the 42nd minute with a goal from Kenzi Gooley, and the two teams were tied at halftime. It was the Knights lone shot in the half, as Parkside held a 10-1 shot advantage.
Less than five minutes into the second half, Kroening struck again with the game-winning goal, getting a pass from sophomore
Jazmin Castanon (Hickory Hill, Wis.) and firing a shot past the keeper.
Sophomore
Adrianna Bratel (Milwaukee, Wis.) stopped two shots in goal to earn the victory.
Head coach
Brittany Nikolic's team will return to Wood Road Field on Sunday at noon to host Indianapolis. Â
