SOMERS, Wis. --
Lauren Boerger scored 14 points and Wisconsin-Parkside shot 66.7 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter as the Rangers pulled away from Quincy for a 75-61 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory on Thursday in DeSimone Gymnasium.
The Rangers, who have won five straight games at home, led 48-44 after three quarters, but used a hot-shooting final quarter to claim the win. Wisconsin-Parkside also limited the Hawks to 29.4 percent shooting in the fourth quarter.
Wisconsin-Parkside, which improved to 8-14 overall and 6-8 in the GLVC, also received 11 points from
Olivia Montague, while
Shelby Cheston added nine points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Taylor Stephen finished with eight points and five rebounds and
Clarisa Martinez had eight points and four rebounds.
Quincy, which dropped to 5-19 overall and 2-12 in the GLVC, was led by Anika Webster who scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Hawks. Taylor Hickey and Lauren Gronewold had eight points and Rachel Ruzevich and Nikia Edom finished with seven points each.
Cheston and Alexa Low exchanged baskets to begin the fourth quarter, but the Rangers got a jumper and a three-pointer by Montague to stretch the lead to 55-46 with 7:49 to play in the fourth quarter.
A pair of three-pointers by Hickey cut the Wisconsin-Parkside lead to 57-52 with 6:42 to play in the contest.
Kauri Jensen ignited a 6-0 run with a layup and
Blair Arthur capped the run with a jumper that gave the Rangers a 63-52 lead with 5:04 remaining in the game.
After two free throws by Webster trimmed the lead to 65-56 with 2:32 left to play, the Rangers responded with six straight free throws to extend the lead to 71-56 at the 1:10 mark of the fourth.
Wisconsin-Parkside shot 56.7 percent from the floor in the second half and outscored the Hawks 45-32.
Wisconsin-Parkside will continue its current homestand as it hosts Truman State on Saturday (Feb. 11) at 1 p.m. in DeSimone Gymnasium.
