KANSAS CITY -- Senior Alexander Brown scored 20 points, but Rockhurst closed the game with an 18-8 run to upset No. 22 Wisconsin-Parkside 64-54 on Thursday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game in Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse.

Chavares Flanigan made one of two free throws with 9:39 remaining in the second half to tie the score at 46-46, but Rockhurst would then respond with a game-changing run.

The Hawks went on a 13-0 run over the next 8:03 to take control of the game. By the time Brown finally ended the drought with a layup, the Rangers trailed 59-48 with 1:28 to play in the second game.

Wisconsin-Parkside, which saw its two-game winning streak halted, dropped to 17-4 overall and 9-3 in the GLVC. Rockhurst improved to 13-7 overall and 7-5 in league play and won for the 10th time in its last 13 games.

Wisconsin-Parkside shot 30.0 percent from the floor, including 20.7 percent in the second half, and 27.8 from the three-point line in the game.

Brown, who was 6-of-18 from the floor, was the only Ranger to reach double figures in scoring. Kendale McCullum and Kyle Flanagan each finished with six points for Wisconsin-Parkside, while Goran Zagorac had four points and 16 rebounds.

Rockhurst was led by Malachi Nix and Mason Loewen who each scored 14 points. Connor Evans added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks.

The Rangers used a 6-0 run midway through the first half to build a lead. Two free throws by Jake Verhagen and a three-pointer and a free throw from Linwood Lee gave the Rangers a 25-19 lead with 7:39 to play in the first period.

The Rangers built the lead to 31-22 on baskets by Flanigan, McCullum and Joe Borcia with 5:45 to play in the first period.

Wisconsin-Parkside took its largest lead of the game when Brown drilled back-to-back three-pointers giving the Rangers a 37-26 lead with 2:34 remaining in the first half.

The Rangers led 43-37 with 15:17 to play in the second half following a free throw by Borcia, but the Hawks used a 6-0 run to tie the game at 43-43 with 13:57 to play.

The teams then exchanged the lead until the Hawks put the game away with their 13-0 run.
