Boerger Career High Leads Rangers Past Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS -- Sophomore Lauren Boerger scored a career-high 19 points and Blair Arthur hit a pair of key three-pointers as Wisconsin-Parkside defeated Indianapolis 66-62 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game on Saturday in Nicoson Hall.

After Jordan Cole gave Indianapolis a 57-55 lead with a three-point play with 2:53 to play in the fourth quarter, Arthur put the Rangers ahead to stay at 58-57 with a three-pointer with 2:39 remaining in the game.

Nicole Anderson missed a pair of free throws on the Greyhounds next trip and Arthur drained another three-pointer to extend the Rangers lead to 61-57 with 1:30 left to play.

Anderson trimmed the lead to 61-59 with a pair of free throws with 50.1 to play, but Boerger knocked down a pair of free throws giving the Rangers a 63-59 lead with 37.8 left in the fourth quarter.

Taylor Stephen pushed the lead to 64-59 with a free throw with 22.9 seconds left to play, but Anderson banked in a three-pointer with 7.9 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 64-62.

Senior Brittney Fair then sealed the game for the Rangers as she made two free throws with 7.0 seconds left giving the Rangers their second consecutive road victory.

Wisconsin-Parkside improved to 10-15 overall and 8-9 in the GLVC with the win, while Indianapolis dropped to 14-12 overall and 9-8 in conference play.

Boerger was 6-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the free throw line to post her career-high 19 points. She also had four assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Kauri Jensen came off the Wisconsin-Parkside bench to score 13 points and grab five rebounds. Olivia Montague had eight points for the Rangers, while Shelby Cheston finished with six points, six blocks and five rebounds.

Indianapolis was led by Anderson who finished with 27 points, while Sydney Brackemyre had 15 points and six rebounds.

The game was tightly contested throughout as the contest featured 18 lead changes and eight ties.

Wisconsin-Parkside will conclude the regular season on Thursday (Feb. 23) when it hosts Lewis at 5:30 p.m. in DeSimone Gymnasium. The game will also mark senior day for Brittney Fair and Bailey North.
