SOMERS, Wis. -- Wisconsin-Parkside won the final six matches to rally to defeat Wisconsin-Whitewater 28-15 in the annual Sake Bottle Trophy dual on Wednesday in DeSimone Gymnasium.

With the win, the Rangers secured the Sake Bottle Trophy for the second consecutive year and the 22nd time overall in the annual dual with the Warhawks.

The Rangers, who improved to 11-2 on the season, found themselves in a 15-0 hole after the first four matches of the dual. Wisconsin-Parkside finally got on the board when Brett Scoles defeated Sonny Schieldt 8-2 in the 157 pound match.

Josh Anthony posted his fourth consecutive win with a 9-3 decision over Mike Kouvelis at 165 pounds to cut the Warhawks lead to 15-6.

All-Americans Nick Becker and Montrail Johnson followed with technical fall victories to give the Rangers their first lead of the match. Becker topped Nicholas Bonomo 18-3 to cut the lead to 15-11 and Johnson followed with a 20-5 win at 184 pounds to put the Rangers in front 16-15.

Junior James Lehman then iced the win for the Rangers as he posted his team-leading 11th pin of the season at 2:24 to up the lead to 22-15.

Matt Halverson won by forfeit in the heavyweight bout to cap the run by the Rangers.

Wisconsin-Parkside will return to action on Saturday (Feb. 4) when it travels to Drury seeking to capture the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship. With victories over Truman State and Drury, Wisconsin-Parkside will be crowned conference champions in the first year the league has sponsored wrestling as a championship sport.
