Efficient Offense Leads Parkside to League Win

Box Score Senior Lexi Turek (Naperville, Ill.) and freshman Rachel Hedman (Stoughton, Wis.) combined for 21 kills and just one error on Saturday afternoon as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team claimed a 3-0 sweep over visiting Missouri S&T. With the win, the Rangers improved to 6-3 in league play.

The two teams battled throughout a close first set before Parkside won the final two points to take the set 27-25 for a 1-0 lead.

The Rangers cruised in sets two and three on the strength of strong offense. After tallying 13 kills in the first set, the hosts posted one of their best offensive sets of the season to close the match. In set three, the Rangers had 18 kills and only four errors for a hitting percentage of .378.

Turek finished the match with a team-high 12 kills and had only error on 19 swings for an incredible hitting percentage of .579. Hedman posted a clean slate, not committing an error in 24 swings while recording nine kills.

Junior Katie Adams tallied 33 assists to lead the offensive attack, adding eight digs and four kills. Sophomore libero Annie Leo (Shorewood, Wis.) totaled a team-high 18 digs.

The Rangers return to action on Monday, stepping out of conference play for a match at Purdue Northwest. PNW is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, which UW-Parkside will join on July 1, 2018.
