Rangers Fall to 12th-Ranked Drury in GLVC Play

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Sophomore Lauren Boerger scored a season-high 13 points, but 12th-ranked Drury shot 55.9 percent from the floor on its way to an 87-50 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday in the O'Reilly Event Center.

Boerger finished the game 6-of-7 from the floor and made her only three-point attempt in surpassing her previous season high of 10 points. She also added an assist, a steal and a rebound for the Rangers.

Wisconsin-Parkside, which dropped to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play, also received eight points and eight rebounds from Shelby Cheston. Olivia Montague, Brittney Fair and Blair Arthur each scored seven points for the Rangers.

Drury, which improved to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play, was led by Heather Harman and Hailey Diestelkamp who each scored 20 points. Briana Jones added 17 points off the bench for the Panthers.

Drury forced the Rangers into 26 turnovers for the game and converted that into 30 points. The Panthers also held a 40-24 advantage on points scored in the paint.

Drury, which never trailed in the game, opened the first quarter with a 9-0 run before the Rangers rallied. Kauri Jensen scored four points during a 6-0 Wisconsin-Parkside run that trimmed the lead to 9-6 at the 6:18 mark of the first quarter.

Jones then scored eight straight points to jump start a 13-0 Drury run that upped the Panther lead to 22-6 with 1:55 to play in the first quarter.

Two free throws by Fair and a jumper by Montague helped the Rangers trim the lead to 22-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Drury used a 12-0 run in the second quarter to break the game open. Three-pointers by Lexie Vaught and Paige Wilson capped the run, which gave the Panthers a 40-16 lead with 4:24 to play in the second quarter.

Drury took its largest lead of the game at 87-46 on a free throw by Jones with 20 seconds to play in the game.

Wisconsin-Parkside returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 7) when it visits Missouri S&T for a GLVC game at 1 p.m.
