SOMERS, Wis. -- Senior
Alexander Brown scored 24 points and No. 25 Wisconsin-Parkside shot 67.7 percent from the floor in the second half as the Rangers rolled to a 90-63 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over visiting McKendree on Saturday in DeSimone Gymnasium.
Brown, who was 10-of-15 from the floor including making all three of his three-point attempts, also had five assists and four rebounds in leading the Rangers to their 11th consecutive home win this season.
Wisconsin-Parkside, which improved to 17-3 overall and 9-2 in conference play, made 21-of-31 attempts from the floor in the second half and 5-of-7 three-point attempts in outscoring the Bearcats 52-37. The Rangers outrebounded McKendree 40-26 and turned the ball over only nine times in securing the victory.
Brown, who has reached double figures in scoring in 19 of the Rangers 20 games this season, led five players in double figures with his 24 points.
Kendale McCullum had 17 points and seven assists, while
Kyle Flanagan added 13 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
Goran Zagorac finished with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor and senior
Jake Verhagen added 11 points for the Rangers.
McKendree, which dropped to 7-11 overall and 1-9 in conference play, was led by Nate Michael who scored 18 points. Michael Jackson scored 16 points and Nolan Gerling finished with 10 points for the Bearcats.
Wisconsin-Parkside, which never trailed in the game, raced out to a 10-0 lead behind four points from McCullum.
A three-pointer by Michael brought McKendree to within 24-21 at the 5:10 mark of the first half, but Wisconsin-Parkside responded with a 10-0 run to push the lead to 34-21.
Verghagen and Brown drilled back-to-back three-pointers to start the run and McCullum capped the outburst with a pair of free throws.
Wisconsin-Parkside increased the lead to 38-23 on back-to-back layups by Zagorac and took a 38-26 lead into halftime.
The Rangers were never seriously threatened in the second half as the Bearcats got no closer than 12 points. The Rangers took a 20-point lead on a layup by Verhagen with 7:48 to play in the game and held as much as a 28-point lead on two occasions in the second half.
