SPRINGFIELD, Mo. --
Rebecca Roembke had nine kills and seven digs, but the Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team lost to host Drury 25-23, 25-16, 25-19 on Friday in the O'Reilly Family Event Center in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both schools.
Wisconsin-Parkside, which dropped to 1-9 overall and 0-1 in league play, also received eight kills from
Kasey Davis and five kills, four digs and a block from
Lexi Turek.
Annie Leo paced the Rangers with nine digs and setter
Lauren Hickson had 22 assists, four digs and a block.
Drury, which improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play, was led by Bentley Mara, Kendra Sater and Tori Foster who each had nine kills. Emmalee Chrest added eight kills and a team-high 13 digs for the Panthers.
Drury hit .317 for the match, while limiting Wisconsin-Parkside to a ,192 attack percentage. The Panthers held a 46-34 advantage in digs and also outblocked the Rangers 5-2.
Drury broke a 21-21 tie in the first set on the strength of a Ranger attack error and a kill by Foster to take a 23-21 lead.
An attack error by Bentley brought the Rangers to within 23-22, but UWP committed an attack error to up the Panther lead to 24-22. Drury closed out the first set on a kill by Sater to claim a 25-23 victory.

Leah Fenske cut the Drury second-set lead to 8-7, but the Panthers responded with an 11-4 run that stretched the margin to 19-11. A kill by Hickson cut the lead to 21-14, but the Rangers could get no closer and Chrest closed the second set with a kill for a 25-16 win.
The Panthers broke a 15-15 tie in the third set with a 4-0 run that pushed the lead to 19-15. Drury closed out the set, and the match, on a UWP service error.
The Rangers will attempt to end a seven-match losing streak on Saturday (Sept. 17) when it visits Missouri S&T for a GLVC match beginning at 2 p.m.
