SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 1, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad fell in straight sets to Winona State University 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-18) at home inside the DeSimone Gymnasium.

The opening set started close with the Rangers (0-1) leading 8-7, but the Warriors (1-0) finished out with an 18-5 run, including the final six points of the set and closing out the 25-13 win.
The Green and White found themselves trailing late in the second set 19-12. Â
Katie Adams then went on a six serve run that was aided by three kills from
Lexi Turek, and Parkside pulled within one 19-18. The Rangers continued to fight, but came up short 25-22.

The third set started out with a quick 3-1 lead for Parkside, but it was all Winona State after that. The Rangers fell 25-18.

Lauren Hickson led the team with 16 assists and
Lexi Turek had a team high 8 kills. Defensively, the Rangers were led by
Annie Leo with 12 digs and
Elizabeth Mavis with 5 blocks.

The Rangers head to Romeoville, IL for the Flyer Festival on Sept. 2 and 3. Parkside will face off against Augustana University (SD) and Central Washington University on Friday at 10:30am and 8pm respectively.
