SOMERS, Wis. (Aug. 29, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team opened up the 2016 season with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-15, 20-25, 25-18) exhibition win over the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) in a non-conference match inside the DeSimone Gymnasium.
Â
The Rangers opened up the match with a tightly contested first set, and found themselves trailing 15-14. Parkside finished out the set with an 11-3 run to take the set 25-18. The Green and White kept the pressure up and closed out the second set 25-15; in a set where the Saints (2-3) only score on four kills and the remainder of their points were from Parkside errors.
Â
After a shortened intermission, Saint Francis continued to struggle in the third set. Midway through the set, Parkside gave up five points in a row on errors, and the Saints capitalized on the miscues and took set number three, 25-20.Â
Lexi Turek stepped up in the fourth and final set of the match, driving home 5 of her 12 kills of the night. The Rangers closed out the Saints in the final set 25-18.
Â
Rebecca Roembke led the Rangers in the exhibition with a double-double with 15 digs and a team high 15 kills. Two first-year Rangers made a significant impact in the match. Freshman outside hitter,
Kasey Davis collected her own double-double (13 digs, 10 kills), and the libero,
Annie Leo led the team with 23 digs. Senior setter,
Lauren Hickson racked up 42 assists for Parkside in the match.

The Rangers return to action tomorrow when they host Winona State University on campus for a 5pm matchup.
