KENOSHA, Wis. (May 2, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team earned a split in its abbreviated series against Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Bellarmine University on Monday, falling 6-0 in the opener before rallying for the 2-1 victory in game two at Augie Schmidt Field.

In game one, the visiting Knights (21-23, 12-10 GLVC) tallied two runs in the opening inning and four more in the bottom of the third for the shutout victory.

Zach Thompson led the Rangers (9-29, 4-18 GLVC) at the plate in the opener, finishing two-for-four.

Mario Samuel absorbed the loss, tallying six strikeouts in seven innings of labor before making way for
Cody Rolshoven who tossed a scoreless eighth. Bellarmine's Austin Warner claimed the complete game win, striking out six, scattering five hits and issuing no walks.

Trent Muscat played the role of hero in game two, knocking in both runs in the seventh inning on a single through the left side.

BU struck first in game two, plating a run in the bottom of the first for the early lead.

Jake Kolasinski led off the seventh by drawing walk, before getting replaced by pinch runner
Lovell Chandler.
DJ Peltz doubled down the left field line the next at-bat while to push Chandler to third before the duo scored on a Muscat base knock to give homestanding UW-Parkside the 2-1 edge.

Pitcher
Tyler Jandron induced three straight groundouts in the bottom of the seventh, emerging with his third complete game victory in as many tries, striking out six and allowing just four hits. His counterpart, Hunter Spencer, was hit with the loss, striking out two and yielding two earned runs.

The GLVC series was truncated to just two games after the squads endured weather issues on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Rangers return to the diamond on Wednesday afternoon, making the short trek northward to face Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a single game beginning at 3 p.m.
