MILWAUKEE, Wis. (May 4, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team was unable to match the firepower of instate foe University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 12-2 decision to the Division I Panthers in a non-conference game at Hank Aaron Field.

The host Panthers (22-20) struck early, piling on five runs in the bottom of the first. UW-Parkside (9-30) came up empty handed in the second inning despite loading the bases before finally breaking through with a run in the third inning.
Jake Kolasinski got things started with a two-out double to left center field before scoring on a
Troy Bittenbender two bagger to center field.

UW-Milwaukee padded its lead with a single run in the third before collecting two more in the bottom of the fourth inning. Parkside chipped away at the deficit in the sixth with a
Kyle Schulz single bringing in Bittenbender but Milwaukee answered with four more scores in the seventh for the 12-2 win.

Bittenbender led the Rangers at the plate, finishing two-for-three, scoring a run and driving in another.

Dylan Tye suffered the loss on the mound, striking out one in one inning of work as Tye,
Connor Cunningham, and
Matt Skarzynski combined for five strikeouts on the day. UWM's Jared Reklaitis tallied the win, striking out six in five innings of labor.

UW-Parkside returns to the diamond on Saturday, hosting Great Lakes Valley Conference rival McKendree University in a doubleheader at Oberbruner Field.
