ROSEMONT, Ill. (Feb. 26, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team earned a split on Friday inside the Rosemont Dome, overpowering the University of Findlay 8-1 in game one before stranding eight runners on base in a 1-0 setback to Walsh University.

The Rangers (3-10) came out of the gate swinging, piling on four runs in the opening inning en route to the 8-1 victory. Madison Manders led off the frame by drawing a walk, later scoring on a Raegan Fingerman RBI single to right field. Cassie Walek doubled the Ranger lead with a single up the middle before plating a run on a Samantha Magruder single and a throwing error for the early 4-0 edge.

Emily Bell blasted a triple in the third inning, hitting the right center gap to score Fingerman for the 5-0 lead. The Oilers (0-1) generated a run in the fourth before UW-Parkside tacked on two more in the sixth, getting an RBI groundout from Fingerman and an RBI double from Danica Bramschreiber.

Parkside cranked out 12 hits in the game with three coming off Fingerman's bat while Sara Markelonis added a pair of hits.

Carly Dundee went the distance in the circle, striking out six while allowing just four hits.

In the nightcap, the Cavaliers (2-0) pushed across an unearned run in the third inning for what proved to be the lone score of the evening.  The Rangers had bases loaded in the opening inning but failed to generate any runs while had the potential winning run on the plate before a flyout ended the contest.

Bridget Jost was saddled with the loss, allowing no earned runs in six innings of action while Walsh's Ryan Kuula netted the win, striking out four and yielding five hits in the complete game shutout.

The Rangers return to the Rosemont Dome tomorrow, facing Ashland University at 1:30 p.m. and Grand Valley State University at 6 p.m.
