(Feb. 12, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball team and Barry University put on an offensive clinic on Friday evening, combining for 31 hits as the Rangers had their season opener spoiled 19-10 at the hands of the Buccaneers at Feinbloom Field.

Visiting UW-Parkside (0-1) surged to an early 4-0 lead after the top of the first but the homestanding Buccaneers (5-1) matched the Rangers in the bottom of the frame before piling on six more in the second and two more in the third to take a 12-4 lead.

Troy Bittenbender tallied a leadoff double in the first before scoring on a
Kyohei Makita bunt single. A

DJ Peltz who reached base on a single while
Bobby Neylon and
Zach Thompson each drove in a run as the Rangers pounded out five hits in the opening inning.

Barry's four-run outburst in the bottom of the first included a three-run shot from Ryan Baldwin to tie the game.

The Rangers pushed across a pair of scores in the fifth, drawing four walks to start the inning as
DJ Peltz took four balls to bring in leadoff hitter
Zach Thompson. Kolasinski collected his second RBI of the game, hitting another sac fly to score
Andrew Luscomb. The Buccaneers answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning while tacking on another run in the sixth.

UW-Parkside pushed across two more runs in the seventh and one each in both the eighth and ninth innings, but it was not enough to emerge with the win.
Nick Janssen and Neylon drew RBI walks in the seventh while
Ryan Fischer single up the middle to bring in
Nick Sramek in the eighth.
Zach Thompson drove in the night's final run for the Green and White, scoring
Trent Muscat on a single up the middle.

Thompson led the Rangers at the plate with three hits and two RBIs while Bittenbender, Peltz, Makita, and Neylon all tallied a pair of hits. Parkside collected 15 hits on the night, including three extra base knocks.

Josh Serio suffered the loss on the mound as the Ranger staff combined for 10 strikeouts.
Tyler Jandron struck out four of the seven batters he faced in relief while
Connor Cunningham fanned five batters over the final 3 2/3 innings.

Barry's Jonathan Hernandez collected the win, tossing the final five innings and allowing five earned runs.

The two squads return to the diamond tomorrow, squaring off in a doubleheader with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. (Eastern Time).
