SOMERS, Wis. -- The Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team returns from an eight-day layoff on Thursday (Dec. 29) as it hosts Indiana Northwest in a non-conference game in DeSimone Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
The Rangers, who are currently 9-1 on the season, will host the RedHawks in their final non-conference tilt of the season. Wisconsin-Parkside has won nine consecutive games following a season-opening loss and is 6-0 at home this season.
Wisconsin-Parkside enters the contest as one of the top shooting teams in the nation as the Rangers ranked fifth nationally in three-point field goal percentage (44.9) and seventh in the nation in field goal percentage (52.6).
Wisconsin-Parkside topped Minnesota Duluth 85-76 in its last game on Dec. 19 behind a brilliant all-around performance from junior
Kendale McCullum. McCullum had a season-high 25 points to go along with six rebounds, six assists and six steals.
Kyle Flanagan added 14 points, while
Jake Verhagen had 11 points and
Joe Borcia scored 10 points off the bench.
McCullum leads the Rangers averaging 15.7 points per contest and is ranked 14th in the nation averaging 6.4 assists per game and 19th in the nation averaging 2.5 steals per game.
Senior
Alexander Brown ranks second on the team averaging 14.9 points per game, while Verghagen is averaging 10.0 points per contest.
Goran Zagorac is the Rangers top rebounder averaging 5.5 per game and he also averages 8.2 points per contest.
Indiana Northwest enters the contest with a 9-6 overall record, but has won eight of its last 10 games on the season. The RedHawks average 94.4 points per game led by Darrius Davis who averages 18.1 points per game. JJ Pennington (17.8), Vince Gooden (15.5), Rashad Richardson (14.0), Jovan Jackson (12.0) and Ronald Alexander (11.9) also average in double figures for Indiana Northwest.
Wisconsin-Parkside leads the all-time series with Indiana Northwest 3-0 and won the last meeting between the two teams 92-74 last year.
