EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Oct. 7, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team dropped three of four sets in a 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24) loss to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival University of Southern Indiana on Friday.

The opening set saw both teams exchange the lead early on.
Kasey Davis had three kills during a Rangers (6-12, 4-4 GLVC) 4-1 run to tie the set at 12-12. The Screaming Eagles (8-9, 3-5 GLVC) followed with an 8-1 run of their own, and rallied to close out the first set, 25-16.Â

With momentum on their side, USI took an early 7-3 lead in the second set. The teams exchanged side outs as UWP slowly cut the Screaming Eagle lead to 13-11, when the Rangers went on an 8-1 run including service aces from
Lauren Hickson and
Rebecca Roembke. UW-Parkside controlled the remainder of the set and finished with the 25-19 victory.

With the third set tied at eleven halfway through, Southern Indiana slowly pulled away eventually winning 25-21. The final set was tied 11 different times as both teams battled for the lead. The Rangers were up 20-18 when the Screaming Eagles put together a 6-2 run late in the set, and on their second match point, Southern Indiana won 26-24.

Lauren Hickson led the team with 44 assists, and
Annie Leo had a team high 26 digs. Both
Kasey Davis (17 kills, 11 digs) and
Rebecca Roembke (14 kills, 13 kills) finished with a double-double in the match.

Wisconsin-Parkside finishes off its three game road trip with a stop in Louisville, KY as they take on GLVC opponent Bellarmine at 2pm on Saturday, Oct. 8.
