Rangers Fall to Quincy on Senior Day

SOMERS, Wis. -- Brandon Henderson scored his first goal of the season, but Quincy scored two second-period goals to defeat Wisconsin-Parkside 3-1 spoiling Senior Day for the Rangers on Sunday at Wood Road Field.

Wisconsin-Parkside seniors Ryan Shogren, Antonio Gonzalez, Ben Kosmider and Remi Bibal were each honored prior to the start of the match.

Wisconsin-Parkside, which dropped to 5-7-2 overall and 3-7-2 in conference play, appeared in good position after Henderson tied the score late in the first period. But the Hawks got two goals from Taylor Reis in the second period to pull away

Quincy, which improved to 8-4-2 overall and 6-4-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. Working off a corner kick, Pete Condol took passes from Conner Sendobry and Artan Emini and found the back of the net.

Wisconsin-Parkside evened the match at 1-1 thanks to Henderson and Leki Prpa. Prpa led Henderson with a beautiful feed that left him one-on-one with the Quincy goalie and Henderson beat Nate Griffin to tie the match.

Quincy regained the lead when Reis scored on a penalty kick in the 57th minute and then put the match away when Reis scored in the 77th minute to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Rangers had several good looks at the Quincy goal in the first period, but Griffin made several outstanding stops. Griffin finished the match with five saves.

Wisconsin-Parkside returns to action on Friday (Oct. 21) when it hosts Indianapolis in a GLVC match at 12 p.m. at Wood Road Field.
