Rangers Battle UIndy to Draw

SOMERS, Wis. -- Senior goalie Remi Bibal made one save and the Wisconsin-Parkside defense limited Indianapolis to one shot on goal as the Rangers played to a 0-0 tie against the Greyhounds on Friday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Wood Road Field.

Bibal faced a total of 11 shots, including one on goal, in posting the shutout for the Rangers in net. Wisconsin-Parkside accumulated seven shots, which included three in a strong first period.

Wisconsin-Parkside, which is 5-7-3 overall and 3-7-3 in the GLVC, had two excellent scoring opportunities early in the match. Alberto Gonzalez drilled a ball on goal in the 16th minute, but Greyhound keeper Miles Palmer made the save to keep the match scoreless.

Palmer then turned in an outstanding save to deny Jack Krenzien a goal. Working off a corner kick, Alberto Gonzalez took the corner and crossed the ball to Krenzien who touched the ball to the lower left side of the gal but Palmer sprawled to his right and made the save.

The Rangers narrowly missed on two opportunities to win the match in the second overtime.

Antonio Gonzalez hit the crossbar on a shot in the 103rd minute and Stevie Krecak's header in the ensuing scramble went just wide denying the Rangers the victory.

Krenzien, Antonio Gonzalez, Alberto Gonzalez, Reyes Perez, Ryan Shogren, Abraham Kanneh and Krecak all recorded shots for the Rangers.

Wisconsin-Parkside returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 23) when it visits Saint Joseph's for a GLVC match beginning at 2:30 p.m.
