(Jan. 9, 2016)-- Asserting its dominance midway through the second half, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball squad extended its Great Lakes Valley Conference home winning streak to 26 games on Saturday night, vanquishing Drury University 84-67 in front of a raucous crowd inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The two squads traded jabs in the opening 11 minutes of play with seven lead changes and seven ties. Four treys in a four-minute stretch fueled a 16-0 Ranger run, turning a two-point deficit into a 14-point advantage.
Alexander Brown sparked the run, canning a three with 8:50 left in the opening stanza before receiving additional long range firepower from
Paul Torola and a pair from
Avery Harmon, including one with 4:47 left giving the hosts a 35-21 lead. Drury (8-5, 3-2 GLVC) responded with an 11-2 run to close the gap to just five before
Kendale McCullum hit a jumper with six ticks left as UW-Parkside (10-2, 3-1 GLVC) took a 39-32 lead into the halftime break.

Drury retook the lead with 15:06 left in the ballgame on a Drew Moore layup, part of an 11-0 Panther run to stake a 46-43 edge. DU extended its edge to five with 11:30 remaining before the Green and White battled back scoring seven straight and 13 of the next 15 to reestablish a six-point buffer with 8:18 remaining.
Jake Verhagen ignited the spurt, sinking a three to pull the hosts within one possession with 11:15 left.

UW-Parkside continued to put its foot on the gas, sinking consecutive threes from Torola and Verhagen to build a double-digit lead at 68-56 with 5:11 left. The Rangers owned a comfortable lead the rest of the way, collecting the squad's sixth consecutive win.

Andy Mazurczak powered the Ranger offense, pouring on 24 points while adding eight rebounds.
Kendale McCullum added a career-best 19 points while collecting eight assists and four steals while
Alexander Brown added 16.

Joshua Palmer led Drury with 24 points in just 27 minutes of play while Drew Moore and Tevin Foster added 13 and 10 respectively. Moore additionally added a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Rangers shot 57.6 percent (19-for-33) in the second half and 52.5 percent (32-for-61) for the game while holding a 36-28 rebounding edge. The hosts generated 18 DU turnovers and owned a 24-17 edge in points off turnovers.

Parkside returns to action on Thursday, hitting the road and facing the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
