(Sept. 11, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside won the final two sets of the night on Friday, emerging from the Physical Education Building with a 3-2 (20-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, 15-8) victory over host Western Oregon University in day two of the Western Oregon Invitational.
In the opening set, the Rangers (3-3) held a tenuous 19-18 before the host Wolves (2-6) scored the next five points and seven of the next eight to claim the 25-20 win. UW-Parkside was dialed in during set two, posting 15 kills with just one attack error to secure the 25-17 set win while Western Oregon reclaimed the lead with a 25-19 win in set three.
UW-Parkside tallied five of the first six points in set four, gliding to the 25-20 win to extend the match to a decisive fifth set.
The Rangers own a slim 7-6 edge in the fifth set before mounting an 8-2 surge to finish off the set, earning the 15-8 win to steal the match victory.
Jackie Langer posted a match-high 16 kills while adding 16 digs on the defensive end while
Rebecca Roembke tallied 14 kills and 17 digs.
Lauren Hickson collected a triple-double with 10 kills, a team-best 42 assists, and 11 digs while
Meghan Conley had 25 digs.
The Rangers close out the tournament tomorrow, taking on Adelphi University at 12 p.m. (Pacific Time) and California State University-Chico at 5 p.m. (PT).
