(Sept. 10, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad suffered a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-13) setback to undefeated Concordia University (Oregon) on Thursday evening to open up the Western Oregon Invitational inside the Physical Education Center.
Capitalizing on a pair of attack errors, UW-Parkside (2-3) grabbed an early 5-3 advantage in the opening set but the Cavaliers (5-0) battled back netting three of the next four points to reestablish their lead. Concordia owned a slim 11-10 edge before closing set one on a 14-3 run to claim the 25-13 win.
The Rangers rattled off the opening three points of set two, including back-to-back kills from
Lexi Calloway and
Lexi Turek. Concordia staked its first lead of the set at 8-7 and neither team owned a lead greater than three the rest of the way as the Cavaliers escaped with the 25-22 set win.
Concordia never trailed in the third set, utilizing a 6-0 run to cruise to the 25-13 win to secure the match.
Jackie Langer paced the Green and White with seven kills while Calloway and Turek each posted six.
Lauren Hickson tallied 18 assists while
Jessi Mainczyk finished with 11 digs to lead the team.
UW-Parkside returns to the court tomorrow, facing host Western Oregon University at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific Time).
