SOMERS, Wis. (Apr. 28, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside opened up its final homestand of the season with a bang, collecting 17 hits in a 14-4 whitewash of in-state foe Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday at Oberbruner Field.

The Rangers (12-24) wasted little time getting on the board, piling on three runs in the first inning. Jake Kolasinski belted a two-run home run, scoring leadoff hitter Troy Bittenbender who opened the game with an outfield single while a Ryan Fischer base knock brought in DJ Peltz for the 3-0 margin.

UW-Parkside's advantage continued to grow in the second inning, pushing across a pair of scores with Bittenbender and Kolasinski both collecting RBIs before adding three more in the third for an 8-0 edge.

Fischer plated the first run of the third with a double down the line while a Patrick Cottrell groundout scored Peltz. Andrew Luscomb brought in the frame's third score, knocking in Fischer on a groundout.

The Wolves (18-22) broke up the shutout in the fifth inning, capitalizing on Ranger errors to bring in four unearned runs.

Parkside pushed across an unearned run in the fifth before adding four more runs in the sixth, seizing a 13-4 lead. Bittenbender drove in the first run of the sixth while a Nick Sramek single plated a pair. Peltz hit a double down the line to bring in the inning's fourth run while in the seventh a Kolasinski single to center field brought in Darius Hampton to conclude the scoring.

Nine Rangers ended the contest with a hit while Peltz led the way with a four-for-five performance at the plate, scoring two runs while Kolasinski was two-for-four with four RBIs.

Nicolas Rana claimed the win, striking out four and allowing no earned runs in five innings of work. Nate Stolte tossed two innings of relief, striking out four and allowing just one hit while Cody Gustafson finished off the contest, handling the final two innings and striking out two. Cardinal Stritch's Ryan DeRosa suffered the loss, handling the opening inning and allowing four hits and three runs.

The Rangers return to the diamond tomorrow night, hosting Saint Xavier University in a non-conference showdown at Simmons Field, home of the Kenosha Kingfish.
