SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Oct. 4, 2015)-- Mathew Yang tallied the equalizer with five seconds left in regulation to force overtime but the University of Wisconsin-Parkside was unable to keep pace with host University of Illinois Springfield on Sunday afternoon, falling 4-3 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer match at Kiwanis Stadium.

Yang tallied his first goal of the season with five seconds left in regulation, heading the ball past the UIS keeper to knot the score at 3-3. Brandon Henderson was credited with the assist, his second of the year. In overtime it was Illinois Springfield's Will Teichman playing the role of the hero, scoring in the 96th minute to give the hosts the victory and send Parkside (3-6-1, 3-4-1 GLVC) its third consecutive overtime setback.

The scoring began in the eighth minute with the Rangers falling victim to an own goal. UW-Parkside tied the game nine minutes later with Ryan Shogren converting a penalty kick for his fourth goal of the year and his third off a penalty kick.

Grant Bauer put the Prairie Stars (4-5-1, 2-5-1 GLVC) back in front with a goal in the 29th minute but the lead proved fleeting with the Rangers answering with an Evan Garcia goal in the 38th minute off a free kick.

Khalid Dhalla gave Illinois Springfield a 3-2 lead in the 57th minute off a free kick before Yang tied the game in the 90th minute.

Nate Kitchell logged the final 51 minutes in goal for the Rangers, making four saves while UIS's Tommy Geile secured the win, making one save in 96 minutes of work.

The Rangers are back in action on Friday, returning to the friendly confines of Wood Road Field for a 3:30 p.m. showdown with Bellarmine University.
